A teenager has been 'repeatedly' stabbed by a suspect on a moped.

Tollgate Road, just over the Essex-London border in Beckton, remains closed this evening (Sunday May 12) near the A13.

The road is shut in both directions from the A13 to Colman Road. A diversion is in place with a number of bus routes being diverted.

Police say a 17-year-old was stabbed by a suspect who arrived at the scene on a moped.

A witness nearby said the boy had been stabbed "multiple times".

The boy's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening however.
