Huddersfield Town caretaker boss Mark Hudson is keen to keep his options with Terence Kongolo under wraps ahead of the Cardiff City game.

The 25-year-old Dutch international and Town's record £17.5m signing was expected by many to move on in the summer following relegation from the Premier League.

But the former Monaco man has remained at the John Smith's Stadium and played left back in each of the three Championship matches this season.

Kongolo, however, is also a highly thought of central defender - a position he has played previously for Town - so where might he be employed under Hudson (a central defender in his playing days himself, of course)?

Hudson has yet to reveal what formation he will use following the departure of previous head coach Jan Siewert, who was sacked after the 2-1 home defeat to Fulham last time out.

Could he stick with the 4-3-3 which has failed to deliver results under Siewert? Will he switch to 4-4-2 in an effort to provide more support for top striker Karlan Grant? Or might he go to 3-5-2 and use Kongolo as a central defender alongside both Christopher Schindler and Tommy Elphick?

Asked if he sees Kongolo as a left back or centre back, Hudson replied: "I think he was called up for the Holland squad to play at left back, but he can definitely play both positions.

"That's what you want in your squad, someone who can play at a high level in two positions.

"Going forward, whether it's specifically going to be centre back or left back for Terence we will see in time."
