The performance of clubs in the second tier of English football over the past 128 years has been revealed.

An all-time Championship table was compiled by worldfootball.net, ranking the teams who have played in the second tier from when it was known as Division Two from 1892-1992, the First Division from 1992-2004 and the Championship as it is currently known.

Several Yorkshire clubs feature in the all-time table with Barnsley coming out at the top of the pile having played 3,188 games at the level in their history and amassing 4,023 points.

Sheffield United come in at number 10 in the table having picked up 2,937 points from their 1,906 games (814 wins, 495 draws, 597 defeats) while Sheffield Wednesday are 20th in the list with 2,594 points from 1,818 games (708 wins, 491 draws, 626 defeats).

The all-time points tally of Championship sides ranked

That puts them ahead of Leeds United in 21st with a record of 2,587 points from 1,733 games (714 wins, 455 draws. 564 defeats) and also Huddersfield Town in 27th with 2,275 points from 1,659 games (615 wins, 430 draws, 614 defeats).

The table ranks clubs simply on points gained and not points per game with some of those teams with fewer games played having spent more time in the top tier of English football.

The performance of Yorkshire clubs on a points per games basis changes the picture somewhat with Barnsley on 1.26, Sheffield United on 1.54, Sheffield Wednesday on 1.43, Leeds United on 1.49 and Huddersfield on 1.37.
