The Mate 20 Pro has been one of the biggest success stories of 2018.

This Huawei flagship has surprised many with it offering a swathe of features that haven't yet appeared on many of its flagship rivals.

Huawei has packed the Mate 20 Pro with a clever triple rear camera, all-screen design and fast Kirin processor.

There's an embedded fingerprint scanner under the screen and a technology called reverse wireless charging which can refill other devices simply by placing them on top of the Mate.

This charging feature is clearly impressive but there's another battery bonus as the Pro includes a giant 4,200mAh power pack inside its glass and metal body.

And it's that massive battery that appears to have helped it win another major victory over the competition.

Huawei has been boasting about its battery life since the Mate launched but now YouTube channel, The Tech Chap, has placed a full range of devices side by side to see how they all perform in the ultimate power test.

The challenge includes some of the best flagships on the planet with the iPhone XS Max, Pixel 3XL, OnePlus 6T, Galaxy S9+ and Note 9 all placed alongside the Mate 20 Pro.

So how do they really compare?

To try and make things as fair as possible the devices were set to the same screen brightness with all apps closed and SIM cards removed.

They were then put through a simple video and gaming test to see how long each device can keep going before the battery finally dies.

Despite being regarded as one of the best phones for battery life the Galaxy S9+ was the first shut down with its battery lasting for 6 hours 34 minutes.

Next to give up was the Pixel 3XL, (7 hours 20 minutes), closely followed by the OnePlus 6T and iPhone XS (7 hours 36 minutes).

The iPhone XR and Note 9 were both evenly matched with their batteries running dry after around 8 hours of usage.

So, this just left the iPhone XS Max and Mate 20 Pro with energy still left in the tank.

With the test continuing the iPhone XS Max managed to keep its display alive until 8 hours 13 minutes with the Mate 20 managing to last another 20 minutes before finally shutting down.

In this test, it seems that the Mate 20 Pro was easily crowned the winner with the XS Max taking second place.

With battery life still a hugely important feature for many users this is a big win for Huawei and expect its rivals to pack more power into their devices in 2019.
