Meghan Markle: Royal baby could ‘HEAL’ family rift says expert

Meghan is expected to give birth any day now and there has been much speculation over both the royal baby’s gender and name. Many people have placed bets on what the name of the child will be and according to royal biographer Andrew Morton, two names on the bookies’ list were actually rejected by Princess Diana when deciding on the names for her two royal sons. But the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could pick either of the these names if Meghan gives birth to a boy.

In Mr Morton’s book Diana: Her True Story - In Her Own Words, first published in 1992, he claims the Princess picked both William and Harry’s names.

He claims she said: “The alternative was Arthur and Albert. No thank you.

“There weren’t fights over it.

“It was just a fait accompli.”

But despite not being picked as their first names, both did make it in to their royal titles.

William’s full name is William Arthur Philip Louis, while Harry’s is Henry Charles Albert David.

Despite Henry being the Duke of Sussex’s official first name, the informal nickname Harry has been adopted by almost everybody since Princess Diana and Princes Charles announced he would be called Harry by his family and friends.

His wife Meghan also adopts a different first name, as she was actually named Rachel Meghan Markle at birth.

Meghan Markle: Royal baby name predicted by expert

Bookies believe both names Diana rejected some 30 years ago are a possibility for Baby Sussex, with Albert coming in at 12/1 and Arthur at 16/1.

But odds are currently tipped in favour of Meghan having a girl, with Elizabeth and Diana being the favourite names at odds of 5/1 and 6/1 respectively, according to Ladbrokes.

The bookmaker has also revealed that the baby name Grace is also rising in popularity, with odds changing from 12/1 to 8/1 only yesterday.

Albert is currently the most popular boy’s names, with Philip, Arthur, James and Alexander also topping the list.
