KAY BURLEY could not hide her disappointment as she announced the royal baby name on Sky News claiming she was "wrong as usual" after she had reported baby Sussex would be called Alexander Philip Charles on Tuesday.

The Sky News veteran surprised viewers with the breaking news moments after she had claimed the Palace was yet to release the 's name. She announced baby Sussex's name a few hours after and showed the new arrival to the Royal Family to the world. Ms Burley said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their child Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. That is the name of the royal baby.

“We were all massively wrong as usual!

“But as I said, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor he has been named.”

Meghan Markle gave birth to her and Prince Harry’s first child at 5.26 am on Monday weighing 7lb and 3oz.

Since news of the royal baby's arrival, royalists and commentators around the world have speculated on the name of the new royal.

On Tuesday, Ms Burley revealed that she was confident that the royal baby would be called Alexander Phillip Charles.

She added that she and co-workers would be buying drinks if either of them were right on their predictions.

Ms Burley said: “I am going to go with... what is my best guess?

“I’m going to go with Alexander for obvious reasons.

“Alexander Phillip Charles, what do you think?

“Our political editor Beth Rigby is going for Arthur because that is her little boy's name.

“If the royal baby boy is called Alexander Arthur we will both be buying the drinks.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry introduce royal baby

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the news on social media. 

The Royal Family Twitter account posted: “The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were introduced to the newborn son of The Duke & Duchess of Sussex at Windsor Castle.

“Ms Doria Ragland was also present. The Duke & Duchess of Sussex are delighted to announce that they have named their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.”

It is not known if the child is called Archibald or the derivative Archie.
