KATE MIDDLETON’S appearance has changed recently, according to an expert who says the Duchess of Cambridge has turned into a ‘confident’ stand-alone royal. Why has Kate become more confident?

Kate Middleton officially joined the Royal Family in 2011, when she married her boyfriend of almost a decade, Prince William. Since then, the Duchess of Cambridge has become one of the most popular members of family and is appearing to be more confident than ever. A body language expert has now revealed the reason behind the change in the duchess’ public appearance.

Body language expert Judi James said: “There has been a change in her [Kate’s] body language rituals recently, suggesting changes in her life or attitude.

“She seems more confident projecting herself as a ‘stand-alone’ royal, with the success of her garden at the Chelsea Flower show.

“She has used what have looked like some active ‘leadership-style’ attempts to perform public friendship rituals with Harry and Meghan in what looks like a bid to paper over any rifts between her husband and his brother.”

Ms James added the Duchess of Cambridge’s body language signals have always been “pitch-perfect” since marrying into the Royal Family.

Kate appears to have learned the skill from the Queen, who always applies a “congruent-looking smile” when out in public.

Ms James continued: “Her happiness has always looked authentic but there are no emotional add-ons, ie glimpses of body language that could hint at the kind of more negative emotions that might stir up the same kind of soap-opera feeding-frenzy that surrounded William’s mother Diana.”

But the most significant change in the duchess’ appearance came after her youngest son Prince Louis was born in April last year, according to the body language expert.

Kate’s smile has changed to suggest a more “genuine” delight when out in public.

Ms James added: “Since Louis was born her ‘perfect’ smile has changed to suggest genuine delight with her three children.

“It’s now often a more relaxed-looking smile that borders on a laugh, with her mouth held open and cheek dimpling on display.

“She looks relaxed about her two other children as well, as though needing to worry less as they grow older, and she looks enchanted by the very confident and happy-looking Louis.”

During Trooping the Colour on June 8, where the Royal Family celebrated Queen Elizabeth II’s official birthday, the Cambridge children were smiling and waving at the crowds.

That is something they could have learned from their mother.

“Kate’s behaviour on the balcony with William, where he took Louis from her with the kind of ease and synchronicity that his own father never really achieved with his sons, suggested shared parenting rituals and a lack of the kind of signals of suppressed anxiety that you can get from parents whose kids tend to be naughty in public.”

Ms James explained: “The way Charlotte and Louis were both waving avidly suggests Kate is quietly training them for their royal role and making it fun at the same time.

“They didn’t seem to need any urging or encouragement from Kate once they were out on the balcony and Louis in particular looked happy to keep everyone amused by waving non-stop.”
