QUEEN ELIZABETH II's favourite colour to wear, the reason why and what happens with her old clothes have been revealed by Angela Mollard and Zoe Burrell on their podcast 'Royals'.

Magazine journalists’ Zoe Burrell and Angela Mollard took a look at the Queen's sartorial choices on a new episode on their podcast ‘Royals’. Ms Mollard revealed the colour that the monarch loves to wear the most. Ms Burrell asked: “We’ve seen her in nearly every colour of the rainbow but is there a colour that she wears more than others?”

Her podcast co-host revealed that the colour is blue, and how this had been discovered.

Ms Mollard said: “Some number crunching went on around her wardrobe for a year.

“She wore blue 29 percent of the time, green 11 percent and then pinks and purples follow closely.

“Not sure where yellow fitted in the mix, but she does wear yellow.”

She continued: “Everything from primrose to a citric acid kind of colour.

“She wears all colours, but particularly likes blue.

“Obviously to go with her blue eyes.”

Ms Burrell also asked what the Queen did with all her clothes after she was done with them because she seemed to always have a new outfit.

Ms Mollard revealed that then monarch actually gives them away.

She said: “She first gives them to her dressers. Angela Kelly and her whole team of dressers.

“They’re given the option of either wearing the clothing or selling it.”

The podcast host added: “But if they choose to sell it, there’s a strict condition.

“They must make sure that there is no labelling on the clothes or anything that would connect them with the Queen. There has to be no identification of them.

“Apparently though there was one jacket that was taken to a vintage, second-hand shop in Sandringham, and apparently it didn’t sell.

“Probably £1000s for the coat and I’m sure it ended up in the two quid bin in the end.

“I find that so funny. Shows that even royalty can’t shift their clothes.”
