Birmingham shooting: Police hunt gunman after 'shots fired' in Oldbury

ARMED police have sealed off a street in Oldbury, near Birmingham, after receiving a report of gunshots in the area.

Officers locked down Vicarage Street at around midday with police turning members of the public away from the scene. A witness reported hearing “three or four” gunshots, according to Birmingham Live. Residents spoke of their shock after the incident.

One, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said: “What is happening to this area? It’s really quite scary.”

West Midlands Police have arrested a man on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

No injuries have been reported.

A force spokeswoman said: "Armed police are currently on Vicarage Road in the Warley area of Sandwell after receiving a report of shots fired in the road just before 12pm this afternoon (Friday, February 22).

"One man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply in a nearby road.

"There are no reported injuries and enquiries are on-going."

In November, two teenagers were shot in Handsworth, Birmingham, while on their way to a Halloween party.

The pair, aged 15 and 14, were shot with the same bullet which passed through one boy before hitting the other.

Both survived but were left in a serious condition.

Police said the bullet was fired from a vehicle in Victoria Road at around 8.15pm on Friday, November 2.
