Shock news polls have revealed a surge in support for independence in Scotland and Wales, as well as for Irish reunification. Calls for an independence referendum in Scotland have grown since the Brexit vote, when the majority of Scottish voters backed remaining in the EU. More than half of Scottish voters would now vote to leave the UK if Boris Johnson becomes prime minister, according to a survey.

A Panelbase poll of 1,024 people revealed 53 percent of people would vote for Scottish independence.

The survey was taken last week, from Monday June 17 to Saturday June 22.

Another poll has revealed there has been an increase in the number of people in Wales who want independence.

A YouGov poll of 1,133 people, conducted from May 10-15, found 41% of people are pro-independence, the highest it has eve been.

Leader of Plaid Cymru Adam Price said the “Tory leadership race is the best advert for Welsh Independence”.

He wrote in the Huffington Post: “Here in Wales, thousands and thousands of people are coming to conclusion that this United Kingdom just don’t work for us – and independence is the only alternative.”

And support for a united Ireland is also rising as Brexit chaos continues.

In December it was revealed the deal Theresa May has struck with the EU is so unpopular it has led to an uptick in Irish unification support.

The poll indicated almost half of voters in Northern Ireland are ready to support a united Ireland if Britain leaves the EU under the agreement she struck with the bloc.

The survey, commissioned by The Times, showed only 29 percent of those polled said they would never want to hold a referendum on partition.

One out of four believe the vote should take place within the next five years, with 19 percent saying they would like to have a referendum on it “very soon” after Brexit day on March 29 2019.

Some 12 percent said the vote should happen, but within the next decade.

The poll of 1,334 Northern Irish voters was conducted by LucidTalk, a market research company based in Belfast, between November 30 and December 3.

Tory leader hopeful Jeremy Hunt said today on a visit in Scotland he would never allow the union to be broken up.

The Foreign Secretary said: "I'm in Scotland today because I'm the prime minister that Nicola Sturgeon does not want because I passionately support the union with every drop of blood in my veins.

"I will never allow the union to be broken up as prime minister.

"I would never pay any price if it meant that Scotland would become independent.”

Boris Johnson said that, should he win, he would put "strengthening our Union at the heart of everything".

Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond warned last week that a no-deal Brexit could pull the United Kingdom apart and would deprive Britain’s next leader of the money needed to end austerity.

Almost 60% of Tory Party member would accept Northern Ireland breaking away from the UK if it meant Brexit was delivered, according to a YouGov poll.

YouGov surveyed 892 Conservative Party members on June 11-14.
