Sex Education: British comedy returns for second series

Sex Education viewers saw a large amount of sex scenes throughout the coming of age show.

Many of the scenes involved some intricate details and manoeuvres which are quite mature.

But the cast of the Netflix show have revealed they were well prepared to tackle the scenes head-first.

Express.co.uk caught up with some of the show’s cast to discuss their filming experiences.

First and foremost, Jackson actor Kedar Williams-Stirling explained the sex scenes “weren’t awkward at all. Not at all".

He added: “There was so much preparation before, and trust and communication.”

Kedar then went on to reveal: “We had a sex intimacy director.

“We had a workshop before [the show] where we studied different animals having sex and then that would kind of come into play with how our characters are having sex.”

The role of the sex intimacy director was to help differentiate the actors’ personal lives and their characters’ sex lives.

This allowed each of the actors to get into the headspace required to pull off the various scenes throughout the eight episodes.

Kedar went on: “When it came to our sex scenes and how we were shooting… it was like a choreographed dance. It was great.

“And it was a closed set - there weren’t that many people on set.”

The actors’ relationships off-screen were just as important, as Kedar explained they all “got on so well".

And the show’s filming schedule seemed to work with any nervousness the actors may have had.

He continued: “The first week we were shooting Aimee’s [Aimee Lou Wood] party, so there was a familiarity - through the workshops, then the party.

“So when it came to the sex scenes it was like: ‘You all right? Come on then mate.’”

Kedar and his costar's also spoke about their potential storylines in the newly announced second season.

During the conversation Kedar admitted he hoped Jackson will be “coming to terms with the fact he can be independent".

And with Maeve (Emma Mackey) now out of his life, he doesn’t have much choice.

Sex Education season one is available on Netflix.
