Striking light displays can be seen all around Lichfield Cathedral in an annual multi-award winning event.

Cathedral Illuminated is back with the displays being projected both inside and outside the cathedral.

Inside the cathedral, which dates back to the 12th century, 70,000 paper doves are hanging from the ceiling, illuminated during its 'Peace on Earth' display created by resident artist Peter Walker and composer David Harper, working in collaboration as Luxmuralis in Lichfield.

In keeping with the cathedral’s year-long theme of ‘Imagine Peace’, this Christmas Luxmuralis presents ‘Peace on Earth’.

Each year the team at Luxmuralis creates a bespoke set of light displays all around the cathedral, which sold out last year.

This year the event runs until December 22 - excluding December 19 - and visitors are being encouraged to book tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Tickets cost £4 for children, £6 for adults and £15 for families of two adults and two children, children under the age of three go free.
