Illegal tobacco factory discovered in Wolverhampton

Four people have been arrested after police discovered an illegal tobacco factory in Wolverhampton.

It came as part of a joint investigation with HMRC to discover the tobacco, which was found in a unit on the PDH Industrial Estate, on Neachells Lane, in Wednesfield.

Thousands of full and empty packets were seized by Wednesfield Police, along with other counterfeit items and piles of loose tobacco, at 10.30am yesterday.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "Police have arrested four people after a large quantity of suspected counterfeit tobacco was found at a unit on Neachells Lane in the Wednesfield area.

"A 40-year-old woman and three men aged 30, 39 and 50 remain in police custody."

HMRC has been contacted for comment.
