Man in hospital after 'serious assault' at Wolverhampton park

A man suffered serious head injuries after an assault at a park prompting a police investigation.

The 23-year-old remains in hospital following the attack at Wednesfield Skate Park, in Wednesfield, Wolverhampton, last Sunday afternoon.

The victim was found seriously injured and police believe the alleged assault was filmed on video.

Paramedics gave him specialist treatment with the Midland Air Ambulance from RAF Cosford also attending shortly before 4.20pm.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said the victim was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

"An investigation is under way to establish how he came about his injuries," they added.

"Detectives are keen to speak to a black man who assisted the victim and an eastern European man who is believed to have filmed the incident."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added:

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was seriously injured.

"He received specialist trauma care at the scene before being taken to hospital by land ambulance.

"The man’s condition was described as serious on arrival at the hospital."
