West Midlands Police has arrested six teenagers over Keelan's death just yards from his home in May 2018 – and the leading inspector in the investigation confirmed further arrests could be made in the next few weeks.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Mallett told an inquest hearing at Black Country Coroners Court yesterday (WED) that work to investigate the 15-year-old's murder nearly 10 months ago is extensive and remains 'consistent' – despite pressure on resources.

Keelan was stabbed to death just yards from his home by an armed group of masked attackers. He was ambushed while he was tending to a broken-down car at around 11pm on May 29 in Strathfield Walk in the Merry Hill area of Wolverhampton.

Speaking at the inquest on Wednesday, DCI Mallett said: "It is important to recognise that the investigation has been worked on consistently during the last 10 months.

"It is no secret there is resourcing problems in the West Midlands and nationally. Work is extensive and remains consistent, and we have officers dedicated to work on this enquiry.

"In the first few weeks we made some positive arrests and six people were released pending investigation. We are at a point where we are understanding where those people stand in their involvement.

"There are a further two people to be arrested and that will happen in a few weeks.

"I want to assure the coroner and the family of Keelan that investigations are continuing – we are pursuing the people responsible for Keelan's death."

Senior Coroner Zafar Siddique adjourned the hearing to allow police to continue their investigation. A new hearing date was set for June 24.
