A PENRYN woman who failed to ensure that her child regularly attended school has been fined by Truro magistrates.

Tamsin McGougan, aged 40, of Greenwood Crescent, pleaded guilty to the charge relating to her daughter's attendance at Penryn College between October 30 2017 and June 20 this year.

She was fined £198 and ordered to pay costs of £779 and a victim surcharge of £30. 

* CONTRAVENING a tree preservation order has a cost a Truro man almost £1,500.

Paul Stephens, aged 50, of Riverside View, Newham, cut down, uprooted or wilfully destroyed a tree in Tremorvah Crescent in the summer of last year, which contravened the 2012 Tree Preservation Regulations. 

He pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined £900. He was also ordered to pay £500 costs and £90 victim surcharge.

* A WOMAN who breached a disqualification under the Animal Welfare Act of 2006 has been handed a community order.

Roberta Kirsten Adele Cleere, aged 40, of Dolcoath Avenue, Camborne, was disqualified under section 34 of the act after conviction and sentence two years ago. 

Cleere denied the charge, but Truro magistrates found her guilty of the breach in relation to a skewbald cob mare called Brandy.

Cleere admitted the breach of a suspended sentence after causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, to which she was found guilty in 2016.

The community order imposes an electronic tagging curfew for four weeks and for the suspended sentence breach, she was fined £300.

The sentence was not activitated by magistrates because it was felt it would be unjust given the "overall level of compliance" from the defendant.

Cleere was also ordered to pay £375 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

* A CHACEWATER woman who drove without a clear registration mark on the front of the car has been fined.

Kelly Marie Dunn, aged 30, of Trevithick Road, admitted committing the offence in a BMW on May 1 on Tregolls Road, Truro.

She was fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

* EXCESSIVE speed on the A30 at Roseworthy has resulted in a fine for a Camborne man.

Jonathan Andrew Paul Stoneman, aged 56, of Cross Street, admitted breaking the 60mph limit in a BMW on May 4.

He was fined £123 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with four points.

* FAILING to give information relating to the identification of a driver who was alleged to have committed an offence has resulted in a heavy fine for a Redruth man.

Nicolae Vlad Blaga, aged 26, of Roseland Gardens, failed to give the information in Plymouth on May 7 and must now pay £660.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and £66 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with six points. 

* DRIVING without insurance has resulted in a fine for a Connor Downs man.

Pricop Constantine, aged 24, of Gwinear Road, drove on the A30 at Chiverton Cross on May 27 in a BMW.

He was fined £660 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £66 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with six points.

* A PENRYN man who exceeded the speed limit on the A39 at Trispen has been fined. 

Andrew James Gallie, aged 39, of Regan Court, committed the offence in a Seat on April 29, when he exceeded the 40mph limit.

He was fine £220 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with three points.

* A MAN who possessed a knife in a town centre has been given a suspended prision sentence. 

Shaun Anthony Markey, aged 43, of Bosence Road, Townshend, carried a blue craft knife in Camborne's Commercial Square on August 14.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and his six-month sentence is suspended for 12 months. He was ordered to pay £115 victim surcharge.

* A ST DAY man drove without insurance, licence or MoT certificate in the summer.

Cane Lee, aged 21, of Tresaderns Hill, admitted committing the offences on June 10 at St Erth on the A30.

He was fined £293 and has eight points placed on his driving record. He was ordered to pay £83 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

* DRIVING whilst using a mobile phone has resulted in a fine for a Camborne man.

Benjamin Ian Watson, aged 24, of Pengegon Parc, admitted committing the offence on May 25 in a Hyundai on Kerrier Way, Camborne.

He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £83 costs and £30 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with six points.

* A TRURO man who exceeded the speed limit on the A30 near Redruth has been fined £576.

Nicholas Jordan, aged 13, of Park View, admitted breaking the 70mph on June 12 in a Kawasaki.

He was ordered to pay £85 costs and 357 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with six points. 

* A PENSIONER from Twelveheads, near Truro, has admitted speeding on the A30 at Roseworthy.

Reginald Colin Jose, aged 65, exceeded the 50mph limit in a Ford Transit on May 2.

He was fined £400 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £40 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with six points.    

* A MAN has pleaded guilty to speeding in Devon.

Chrstipher Daniel Reed, aged 34, of Tregarrian Road, Tolvaddon, Camborne, committed the offence in a Volkswagen Scirocco on May 6 on the A30 at Clyst Honiton.

He was fined £383 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £38 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with five points.  

* A PORKELLIS teenager who exceeded a 60mph speed limit on the A30 at Roseworthy has been fined.

James William Triggs, aged 19, of Edgehill, admitted committing the offence on April 2 in a Peugeot 308.

He was fined £116 and ordered to pay £83 cost and £30 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with three points.

A CURY man exceeded a 70mph limit on the A30 at Launceston.

Aidan Whitaker, aged 25, of White Cross, admitted committing the offence on May 4.

He was fined £175 and ordered to pay £83 costs and £30 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with six points.
