What a start to the season it has been for Truro City.

Three games, three wins, nine points, six goals scored and not a single goal conceded.

Only Premier League side Everton and the Northern Premier League pair of South Shields and Matlock Town can also boast that last one among the top seven tiers of English football.

There was a concern as to whether an almost completely new side with a new manager could hit the ground running, but boy have they done that.

That is, of course, the best course of action for a club demoralised after relegation last season.

Truro didn't string three wins together all season in 2018/19, and they have already done so at the earliest possible opportunity.

The comparisons keep coming. It took until October 27 last year to reach nine points, which they did by beating Dartford 3-1 at home in their 14th game of the season. This season, that has been accomplished by August 17 after three games.

Let's move back to clean sheets. The first one last season, arrived in game nine, a 2-0 win at Gloucester City on September 8. This year? In an opening-day 2-0 win at Met Police.

Unsurprisingly, the White Tigers did not manage three consecutive clean sheets last season, only making four in the league and six in all competitions.

It took 27 games to reach clean sheet number three in a 2-0 win at home to Eastbourne Borough on February 2. This year? See above: August 17 after three games.

It is amazing what three games can do to lift the mood of a whole club and fanbase.

Next up for the White Tigers is a double-header of fixtures this Bank Holiday weekend. Truro first make the trip to Chesham United, who sit three points behind the Cornish club with two wins from three, before Weston-super-Mare, who are tenth with five points to their name, visit Treyew Road on Monday.

The last time Truro won five league games in a row? January 2015 – during their last Southern League Premier promotion campaign.

Take another six points from those games and the Tigers really would be roaring...
