Truro City have announced the permanent signing of midfielder Ryan Dickson following his release from National League side Torquay United.

The Saltash-born 33-year-old began his career in Plymouth Argyle's youth system, but made just five first-team appearances before signing for Brentford in the summer of 2008, going on to make 86 appearances at Griffin Park.

He moved to Southampton in 2010 and was part of the Saints' League One promotion-winning side the following season, before spending the next two seasons on loan at Yeovil Town, Leyton Orient and Bradford City.

After being released by Southampton in 2014, he spent a season at each of Colchester United and Crawley Town before spending three years at Yeovil, playing 125 times for the Glovers.

He joined Truro's National League South rivals Torquay United in 2018, playing 28 times as the Gulls secured an instant return to the National League, before spending much of last season on loan with the White Tigers, scoring one goal in 14 games.

Truro manager Paul Wotton told the club's website: "I'm absolutely thrilled to have [Ryan] back, he was brilliant for us while on loan from Torquay last year. He's won the league above and brings a wealth of Football League experience to us.

"He can play in two or three positions as well as being brilliant in the changing room. He's 33 but is incredibly fit and brings great experience to the squad."

Dickson was also happy to be back, telling the club website: "I thoroughly enjoyed it last year and I think we have unfinished business. I think we can improve on what we did last year."
