TRURO City have announced the return of Taunton Town duo Ryan Brett and Shane White.

The departure of the pair, alongside team-mate Matt Wright, from The Cygnet Health Care Stadium was announced on Sunday, with the duo confirmed to have signed for Paul Wotton's side on Tuesday afternoon.

The duo are joined at Treyew Road by fellow former Plymouth Argyle youth graduate Ryan Dickson, who also signed a permanent deal with the club on Tuesday.

Twenty-nine-year-old midfielder Brett began his career at Argyle before spending three years at Salisbury City, helping the Whites towards two promotions to the National League.

He joined Truro in 2014 and played a major role in the White Tigers' promotion to the National League South, before joining Taunton in the summer of 2017, where he enjoyed another promotion from the Southern League South & West.

Thirty-one-year-old defender White also began his career at youth level at Home Park before going on to play for Weymouth, Falmouth Town and St Blazey. He joined Truro in 2013 and would go on to score the winner in the 2014/15 Southern Football League play-off final to gain promotion to the National League South.

He swapped Cornwall for Somerset in 2016 and enjoyed four seasons with the Peacocks, winning promotion to the Southern League Premier South alongside Brett in 2018.

Truro boss Wotton was pleased to secure the services of Brett, telling the club website: "For me he was one of the standout midfielders in the league last year. When we played away at Taunton, he impressed me and I made a note of him after the game. He was someone who was high up on our list of recruitment for the coming season.

"He's won this league, he's won the league above, so brings lots of experience while being incredibly fit and ambitious. He fits exactly what we're looking for here at Truro."

Wotton was also pleased to see White return to Treyew Road, saying: "Shane is someone who became available. He's very, very fit, can play in a multitude of positions and gives us great versatility anywhere in defence or in midfield. He's a winner as well.

"He's someone who's won the league but having spoken to him, still has a burning ambition to succeed. Again, he fits the DNA in which we're looking in players."

Truro also announced the permanent signing of midfielder Ryan Dickson following his release from National League side Torquay United.

The 33-year-old former Southampton, Brentford and Yeovil Town man spent much of last season on loan with the White Tigers, scoring one goal in 14 games.
