An all women team successfully completed a four-day patrol along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh. The team, comprising 18 soldiers of the Army, Assam Rifles and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), was led by a woman officer. The group kick-started the patrol from Kibuthu, Anjaw district on August 10.

“The team etched a name for itself in the annals of history by becoming the maiden all-women team to accomplish adventure cum operational patrolling in the Himalayas,” an official statement reportedly said.

“Four days of patrolling through difficult terrain that crisscrossed mountains, streams and dense forests tested grit, determination and navigational skills of the patrol members, to truly epitomise women empowerment on the 73rd year of our nation’s Independence,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, a few months ago, three women officers of the Indian Air Force created history as they became the first ‘all-women crew to fly a medium lift helicopter.’According to an IAF release, “Flight Lieutenant Parul Bhardwaj (Captain), Flying Officer Aman Nidhi (co-pilot) and Flight Lieutenant Hina Jaiswal (Flight Engineer) have become country’s first All-Women crew to fly a medium-lift helicopter. They flew a Mi-17 V5 helicopter for a Battle Inoculation Training mission taking off and landing from restricted areas at a forward air base in South Western air command.”
