The Fergus Falls Flyers swim club sent six swimmers to compete in three postseason championship meets: Isaac Allen, Aisling Cox, Christian Reed, Logan Rott, Lucas Tuel and Matthew Tuel.
The first meet was the Minnesota Achievement Championships held in Becker on July 13-14. Matthew Tuel competed in four events in the 11- and 12-year-old age group, which is highly competitive.
The second meet was the Minnesota Regional Championships which took place in Austin on July 19-21 in which the remaining five swimmers participated. Cox, Reed, and Rott all competed in the 13- and 14-year-old age group. Reed’s time in the 100 backstroke earned him a top-eight finish and a medal. All three swimmers in this age group bested their seed times in a combined 11 events.
Isaac Allen competed in the 9- and 10-year-old age group and placed third overall in both of his events. Lucas Tuel competed in the 8 and under group and earned two first-place medals and one second. His two first-place finishes, along with a qualifying race earlier in the season, earned him a spot at the Champs meet in Rochester on July 27-28. At the Champs meet, Lucas Tuel dropped time in all three events.
