Washington, D.C. crews rescued two adults and a child who were trapped in an elevator at the Kennedy Center on Sunday.
The technical rescue team from District of Columbia Fire and EMS responded to call concerning three people in a stalled elevator at the nationally known performing arts center, the department stated in an online post. The car had become stuck below the center's terrace level, midway in the shaft and 30 feet below the elevator's entrance.
Firefighters needed to rappel down to the elevator in order to reach the occupants. They then used a harness and hauling system to pull them to safety.
All three people were in excellent condition following the rescue, the department added.
