Report: Jacksonville teenager dies two days after Tuesday night shooting

Friends and relatives say Raymond Hill, 18, died while hospitalized after he was shot Tuesday on Jacksonville’s Westside.

Relatives and friends confirmed that a Jacksonville teenager died two days after he was shot on the city’s Westside, according to a report from the Florida Times-Union.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office hasn’t released the victim’s name. As of Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office has not entered the death on the agency’s homicide transparency list.

Friends and family identified him as Raymond Hill, 18. A senior at Ed White High School, he was on the football team where the 2019 roster identified him as being able to play multiple positions.

He died Thursday while hospitalized, they said.

Hill previously attended Baldwin Junior-Senior High School. A former teacher described him in a public Facebook post as “Always a pleasant, respectful and bright young man. ... I will truly miss Ray’s infectious smile. God speed.”

He was among six people shot during four separate incidents within four hours Tuesday.

The Sheriff’s Office said just after 6 p.m. officers were called to the 6900 block of South Miss Muffet Lane regarding a dispute.

As police were en route to the scene, an off-duty officer reported that a person with a gunshot wound to the neck had driven to Park West Emergency Room, 6477 103rd St. and was in critical condition, according to Times-Union news partner First Coast News.

The Sheriff’s Office has said the gunfire involved two groups of people in separate cars, and that all were being questioned by detectives.

No arrests had been reported on Saturday.
