Government believes policemen are joyously resigning, says Congress

“Today, the reality is that governance in missing in Jammu and Kashmir for grabbing naked power,” Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said.

Today, our self-respect is threatened. If this does not shake the government, what will? What is happening under the nose of the government is terrible," Singhvi said.

“You have three policemen abducted today. You have ten policemen resigning…The government believes the policemen are joyously resigning,” Singhvi said.

Centre failed to counter terrorism: Congress

“Today, talking of policies with Pakistan is like a joke,” said Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi. “Today, for the first time in 70 years, we have seen two things: Joint military exercise between Russia and Pakistan. And the sale of helicopters from Russia to Pakistan.”

“What is happening thse days? The development which took place in Jammu and Ladakh regions took place in the UPA era,” said Singhvi.

Jammu and Kashmir Police Force equipped to beat any challenge, including pnchayat polls, says MHA

While denying reports of mass resignaytion from within the ranks of Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel, the Union Home Ministry in a statement said, “Jammu and Kashmir has a professional and committed police force which is fully geared up to meet the security challenges, including those related to panchayat and urban bodies elections.”

Due to pro-active actions of Jammu and Kashmir Police, militants have been pushed to corner and are being driven to desperation. Twenty eight terrorists have been neutralised this year in Shopian alone. 

Certain reports have appeared in a section of the media that some SPOs have resigned in Jammu and Kashmir. The J&K Police @JmuKmrPolice have confirmed that these reports are untrue and motivated. These reports are based on false propaganda by mischievous elements.

MHA denies claims of resignations of police personnel, says reports untrue, motivated

Taking note of reports that some Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel have resigned, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that these reports were untrue and motivated by false propaganda. The MHA clarified that the force employs over 30,000 SPOs and their services are reviewed from time to time.

The home ministry claimed that some mischievous elements were projecting the non-renewal of services of some of the SPOs as resignations to further their propaganda.

Mehbooba Mufti condemns abduction, murder of three police officers; says ‘Centre’s muscular policy not working’

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti expressed shock and condemned the abduction and death of three personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian district. The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir also tweeted that no expression of shock, outrage or condemnation will bring solace to the families of the victim

One more cop quits taking total number of resignations to 9

One more police personnel, Mukhtar Ahmed Lone submitted his resignation on Friday. In his resignation letter, the police constable acknowledged that the continuing death threats and the ‘present situation’ in the Valley forced him to take the decision. He also submitted an affidavit to that effect.

Jammu and Kashmir Police condemns murder of its personnel, says culprits will be brought to justice

“We have lost three of our brave colleagues in a barbaric terror strike. Our tributes to the three martyred Jawans Nisar Ahmad, Firdous Kuchay and Kulwant Singh. We condemn this inhuman act and assure that all the culprits shall be dealt under law,” the police force tweeted. The police force also paid rich tributes to the personnel murdered by the terrorists.

Four other police personnel quit

Three Special Police Officers, Tajal Hussain Lone, Shabir Ahmad Thoker and Nawaz Ahmad Lone, apart from constable Irshad Ahmad Baba, have resigned from their posts following the killing of the three policemen by suspected Hizbul Mujahideen militants.

While all four policemen claimed that they dis-associated themselves with the police force of their own free will, the timing of the mass resignations suggest that an atmosphere of fear and panic has pervaded the lower ranks of the police department, who fear persecution at the hands of terrorists if they are seen supporting the State.

Special Police Officer Nayeem Ahmad Bhat quits polce force after militants’ threat

Special Police Officer Nayeem Ahmed Bhat was one of the several Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel to have quit the force following the brutal killing of three cops. In his apology-cum-resignation letter, Nayeem seeks apology from the people of Jammu and Kashmir and asserts that he was never part of any action aimed at the so-called freedom movement spurred by secessionist forces.

He writes: “I Nayeem Ahmad Bhat s/o Nazir Ahmad Bhat r/o Wahibugh tensil of district Pulwama am tendering an apology to the people as I was working as an SPO with the police. But I have not done anything against the freedom movement. Today, I am resigning from my post and the copy of my resignation will also be submitted to the Superintendent of Police.”

At least eight Jammu and Kashmir cops resign after militants murder abducted policemen

Fearing retribution from the terrorists active in the Valley, at least eight Jammu and Kashmir policemen have resigned from the force on Friday. The slew of resignations came after Hizbul Mujahideen militants abducted four policemen on Thursday night and the bodies of three of the cops were discovered Friday morning. 

Earlier, Hizbul Mujahideen militant commander Riyaz Naikoo, in a video, warned the SPOs and called for their resignations. The threat came through a video in which the militant asked the local men who are part of Indian security forces, paramilitary or local police, to submit their resignations within four days.
