Following more than two decades as the head coach for Palm Bay football, Dan Burke has been voted into the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

He will be inducted with five others at the Daytona Beach Hilton Oceanfront Resort on January 11. Burke announced at the end of May his decision to step down from the position he held since 1996 after 214 wins, 21 postseason appearances and two state championships.

His 214 wins at Palm Bay is the most by any head football coach at Brevard high schools.

Inductees must have 20 years of coaching history in Florida. Burke, an Eau Gallie product who played football for and was inducted into the sports hall of fame for UCF, recorded 243 career wins, including a seven-year stint at Winter Park Trinity Prep before he took charge of the Pirates in 1996.

Palm Bay won state football titles in 2000 at 2002. His teams also won 14 district championships and reached the regional final round 10 times.
