Here are the Arsenal evening headlines on Thursday, June 4.

Tierney could link up with Rodgers once again

Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney could be on the move this summer, according to journalist Duncan Castles of The Transfer Window Podcast.

It is understood that if Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell seals a move to Chelsea this summer, then former Celtic defender Tierney could re-join former boss Brendan Rodgers at the King Power Stadium.

22-year-old Tierney was a regular at Celtic Park, winning multiple honours including the Scottish Premiership title on three occasions under the Northern Irishman.

It has been a difficult start to life at Arsenal for Tierney, suffering injuries which have kept him out of action for large parts of this season, further stoking speculation of a move.

"Tierney has struggled through injury, and with the managerial changes at Arsenal as well," Castles said.

Martinelli and Arteta in best position dispute

Arsenal’s teenage forward Gabriel Martinelli could hamper his development at the club by insisting he is played in his preferred position.

Martinelli has expressed a desire to play on the left of Arsenal’s attack, rather than as a central striker. That is the position where head coach Mikel Arteta sees the Brazilian’s future, but Martinelli has been quoted as saying otherwise.

Speaking to Spanish outlet Marca, he said: "I really like playing on the left end. It is my favourite position.”

If Martinelli insists on playing off the left, it could damage his chances of becoming a regular for the club. Despite playing 26 times and scoring 10 goals in all competitions this season, the 18-year-old is still considered a fringe player.

Bundesliga replacement for Aubameyang

Bayer Leverkusen forward Kevin Volland could be a potential successor to current Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The club are said to have trailed the German striker for some time, with reports suggesting former boss Unai Emery was keen to bring the 27-year-old to the club earlier this season.

Volland’s deal expires in 12 months which presents Arsenal with the opportunity to potentially sign him for cheaper than his true market value.

The German has nine goals and seven assists in 22 league appearances this season, according to WhoScored.com, and would go some way to replacing Aubameyang’s 17 strikes.
