A number of Arsenal fans have taken to social media to name who they want to see as the next club captain, amid the uncertainty over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future.

With the Gunners struggling to keep pace in the race for a Champions League spot and Aubameyang yet to commit his future to the club, the forward has been linked with a move away from the Emirates.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona have been touted as potential destinations for the Gabon international, with the La Liga giants looking to bolster their attacking options.

And according to French outlet Le10sport, Barcelona are ready to 'open negotiations' with Arsenal in regards to a January move for Aubameyang.

The report states that the Catalan club have identified the Gunners forward as their 'top priority' as a striker target, with the search accelerated due to the injury to Luis Suarez.

The Arsenal skipper has repeatedly reiterated his commitment to the club, but that hasn't stopped speculation intensifying about his long-term future.

And with the current uncertainty over whether he will still be in north London next season, some supporters believe a ready-made replacement as captain is already waiting at the club.

With Aubameyang serving the second match of his three-game ban against Chelsea, Hector Bellerin was named as skipper for the Stamford Bridge clash.

The Spanish defender enjoyed a successful return to the side, scoring a late equaliser in the 2-2 draw and impressing supporters with his overall commitment and performance.

The Gunners, who were down to 10-men after David Luiz was shown a straight red card in the first half, twice trailed to Jorginho and Cesar Azpilicueta goals.

But Bellerin, who was restored to the starting line-up after recovering from injury, fired a low curling shot past Kepa Arrizabalaga to level the scores with only three minutes remaining.

Taking to his Instagram account after the game, the Arsenal right-back wrote: "Always happy to score against these lot... But what truly made me happy was everyone fighting for their lives on that pitch.

"Big well done to the team tonight."
