Two-Stone Fancy Vivid Blue Diamond Ring Could Fetch $8 Million At Christie's New York Auction

A “twin-stone” fancy vivid blue diamond ring of 3.06 and 2.61 carats with an estimate of $6 million - $8 million is the top lot of Christie’s New York Magnificent Jewels sale. The April 16 auction at Christie’s Rockefeller Center headquarters will also feature three D colored diamonds of more than 15-carats, including a 16.69-carat marquise-cut diamond ring (Type IIa, and potentially internally flawless), from The Collection of Elizabeth Stafford with an estimate of $1.2 million - $1.8 million.

Colored diamonds will be represented with a 6.11-carat fancy pink diamond ring (estimate: $1.2 million - $1.5 million), fancy deep yellow diamond earrings of 7.55 and 7.51 carats (estimate: $700,000 - $1 million), a 37.65-carat fancy intense yellow diamond ring (estimate: $600,000 - $800,000) and a 35.06-carat fancy intense yellow diamond pendant of (estimate: $500,000 - $700,000).

In addition, the sale has a number of jewels from private collections featuring pieces by Bulgari, Cartier, Harry Winston, Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. and Van Cleef & Arpels.

For example, the Collection of Florence and Herbert Irving includes a 9.73-carat Burma ruby on a diamond ring by Harry Winston ($250,000 - $350,000), a 16.88-carat Madagascar sapphire on a diamond ring by Bulgari ($70,000 - $100,000) and a sapphire and diamond necklace by Bulgari ($100,000-150,000). The Collection from the Estate of Jean Tailer includes a diamond, sapphire, emerald and gold “Dolphin” brooch by Jean Schulmberger for Tiffany & Co. ($50,000 - $70,000) and an 18.36-carat diamond (J Color, VS2) on a ring by Cartier ($250,000 - 350,000).

Property from a Distinguished American Collection includes a gold, ruby and diamond “Zip” necklace by Van Cleef & Arpels ($150,000 - $250,000), a set of diamond, emerald and sapphire jewels by Van Cleef & Arpels ($100,000 - $150,000), and a limited edition Art Deco enamel and gold “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” charm bracelet by Cartier ($15,000 - $20,000). Property from an Important Private Collection includes a multi-gem and diamond necklace by Bulgari ($80,000-120,000), an emerald and diamond necklace ($150,000-250,000), and a sugarloaf cabochon emerald and diamond ring by Cartier ($150,000-250,000).

A featured contemporary piece is multi-gem and diamond earrings by Carnet ($30,000 - $50,000), accompanied by an advance copy of Carnet by Michelle Ong.

The sale also includes a selection of sapphires such as a 10.88-carat Kashmir sapphire on a diamond ring ($650,000 - $750,000) and a 50.55-carat sapphire on a diamond ring ($200,000 - $300,000).
