Ed Sheeran Returns To No. 1 While Young Thug And Frank Turner Reach The U.K. Top 10 With New Albums

Ed Sheeran stepped off the U.K. albums chart’s throne last week to make room for Slipknot, who returned to the highest possible spot on the tally after many years away. Now, he’s regained control once again. Just behind him comes another surprisingly sturdy chart-owner, Lewis Capaldi’s Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, which has played second fiddle to Sheeran’s No.6 Collaborations Project on several occasions.

The highest-ranking debut this frame comes from punk singer-songwriter Frank Turner, who is back inside the highest region on the chart with his new studio effort No Man’s Land. The set opens at No. 3, granting the musician his fourth top 10 in the country.

Slipknot’s We Are Not Your Kind slides from first to fourth place in their second week back on the list, coming in ahead of Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? at No. 5 and the Greatest Showman at No. 6.

English rockers Ride are back in fine form with their new album This is Not a Safe Place, which enters the race at No. 7. The set is the group’s first top 10 in the U.K. in 25 years, and they have now collected a trio of titles popular enough to reach the region.

Down slightly to No. 8 is Ed Sheeran’s previous album ÷ (Divide), which continues to rack up weeks inside the top 10, despite the fact that it has been out for years. Two spots down at No. 10 comes Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, which soundtracked the film of the same name and which continues to move units every week, even though the movie it accompanied has been out of theaters for quite some time.

The lowest-ranking debut inside the top 10 is Young Thug’s debut album So Much Fun, which opens at No. 9. The rapper’s first proper album was preceded by the single “The London,” which quickly became his highest-charting hit as a lead act when it reached No. 18 earlier this year. The album has also sent two other tracks, “Bad Bad Bad” with Lil Baby and “Hot” with Gunna, to the singles list, where they peaked at Nos. 72 and 82, respectively.
