Colby Covington Does Not Seem To Be Too Popular With His Fellow UFC Fighters

When Colby Covington entered Honda Center on Saturday night to watch UFC 241, he was greeted with an onslaught of jeers from the crowd of more than 17,000 inside the arena. What was remarkable about that was that one of the main card fights, the middleweight bout between Derek Brunson and Ian Heinisch, was going on at the time.

Things did not get better for Covington when he made it to his seat at cageside.

"Everybody in that section kept fighting with Colby," White said at the post-fight press conference. "So security kept coming over to me 50 times to get him out of there. And I said, 'No, everybody needs to start acting like (expletive) professionals because I don't have another seat in this entire building. Every seat in this place is sold out."

"So, that whole section needs to stop starting fights with Colby. And right when I got there (Jorge) Masvidal (who is a teammate of Covington's at American Top Team) was working his way down the line and (Max) Holloway had moved out of his seat so he could get into his seat."

"That (expletive) game you play in kindergarten was going on over there when I went over there. So I asked those guys (to) listen to me: 'We've got a big night going on here. We have a big fight. I don't need a fight breaking out with you knuckleheads. Stop it.'"

There were no reported incidents in the crowd, but it does seem like Covington rubs fighters the wrong way as much as he does the fans. White also said that the expected welterweight title fight between Covington and current 170-pound titleholder Kamaru Usman will happen by the end of 2019.

Covington, the former interim 170-pound champion has won his past seven fights and is coming off a victory over former champion Robbie Lawler in August.
