Army Called To Reports Of 'Suspicious Device' In Buckinghamshire

Army bomb disposal experts have been called out to a cash machine in Buckinghamshire, where a suspicious device was found.

Police called on the Royal Logistic Corps based at RAF Northolt after the alert was raised in Beaconsfield.

Officers were called to the Nationwide Building Society at around 8.45am on Saturday to reports that an ATM had been damaged and a suspicious device was located.

As a precaution, a cordon was in place while they continued their assessments.

Partners from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service also remain on scene.

Chiltern & South Bucks Inspector Dick Doggrell said: “There has appeared to be a growing trend of use of small explosives to attempt to steal cash machines.

“Following a call to a suspicious device this morning, a cordon was put in place.

“I would like to reassure the public that there is no wider threat and there is no suggestion that this is terrorism-related.

“If anybody has any information in relation to this incident, please call the 24-hour non-emergency number 101, quoting URN 326 (2/2).”
