The concerts at Forest Hills Park went on hiatus this summer. But a new group of volunteers is preparing for an early September concert at the park. And it might become an annual tradition.
Here’s what we know so far: The festivities begin at 5 p.m. and end at 7 p.m. Saturday, September 7th at the amphitheater near the Brandywine Street entrance.
Christylez Bacon, a supremely talented DC local, is the headliner. Christylez has performed for audiences of all ages and is equally comfortable at schools and on concert stages. He will take the amphitheater “stage” at 6 p.m.
Here is a video of his performance a few years ago at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival.
The Karin Kelliher Violin Studio is the opening act.
Susan Gage Caterers and TTR Sotheby’s are sponsors. A food truck or two is in the works. Watch listservs and Forest Hills Playground on Facebook for updates.
