Chytil heating up in Hartford, will the Rangers make the call up
Filip Chytil is making the most of his ice time in Hartford. In 4 games he has 2 goals and 5 points to lead the Pack in scoring. Now is it enough for David Quinn and the Rangers to call up the talented big kid and shake up the lines? That’s what we will find out this week.
The Rangers next game is Thursday night against the NJ Devils and it is the first game of a back-to-back as they take on Washington on Friday. If Filip Chytil is going to play in those games he would likely need to be called up no later than tomorrow to practice with the team.
It’s Time
After watching the Rangers forward units not named the AMP line sputter through 3 games offensively, there is no reason to continue to let Chytil stay in Hartford. Ryan Strome’s struggle are not over after one assist in which Kaapo Kakko had to put on a brilliant move to score.
Chytil should slot right back into the 2nd line role that was intended for him at the start of the season. Meanwhile, Strome can slide back to the 3rd line and Lemieux can go to the 4th line sending McKegg to the press box. Regardless of your view on any of the players mentioned above, Chytil’s reassertion into the lineup raises the Rangers offensive talent level quite a bit.
A Monster Line
Should David Quinn opt to call up Chytil as the 2C, the Rangers will have a monster line. Filip is about 2 inches and 15 pounds bigger than Ryan Strome, the biggest difference is he utilizes his size, especially going to the net. Combine him with Kreider’s 6’3″ and 217 lbs frame and Kakko’s still growing 6’3″ 200 lbs man child body, that should give the Rangers a line that can impose their will on a regular basis in games.
Listen, Halloween is just weeks away and this line would give the opposition nightmares. It’s up to Quinn and the Rangers to make this bad dream come true.
