DOVER — Less than three months had passed since President Woodrow Wilson announced the armistice ending the “war to end all wars” when Moultonborough residents Charles “Em” George and Anna George welcomed Frances (George) Stevens into the world on Feb. 4, 1919.

One hundred years later, Frances celebrated her centennial birthday with cake among family and friends Monday, Feb. 4, 2019 at the Dover Center for Health and Rehabilitation, where she resides.

Frances lived in Moultonborough through her early life until she married and had children, deciding then to relocate to the Dover area. Frances and her husband Ernest Stevens eventually retired back to Moultonborough.

Frances authored the book “As I Remember Moultonborough New Hampshire” in 1987, sharing her memories growing up in the small Lakes Region town with references to prominent people, families and historical places of interest.

Frances has three daughters, one son, 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and at least two great-great-grandchildren.
