DOVER — U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., will discuss his presidential aspirations at the Dover Democratic Committee’s monthly PUB Night on Monday, Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place at Flight Coffee, located at the corner of Central Avenue and Third Street. The program is open to the public.

A native of Dublin, California, Rep. Swalwell is the son of two Republicans, which informs his commitment to work on both sides of the aisle to find common ground and solve problems, according to Pat Ross, committee spokesman. He was first elected to serve the California’s 15th District in Congress in 2002. Prior to his election to Congress, he worked as a county prosecutor and member of the Dublin City Council.

As he considers a presidential run, Swalwell says he has identified key issues of focus, including: jobs and the economy, clean government, safe communities, education and health care.

Dover Democratic Committee monthly PUB Nights are an opportunity for local citizens interested in government and the electoral process to meet people with similar concerns in an informal setting, says Ross. The events are designed to offer attendees the opportunity to exchange ideas with candidates and members of the community and explore ways to play an active role in a variety of initiatives the DDC sponsors.
