DOVER — The stars were out as Great Bay Services hosted Hollywood Nights.

Great Bay Services raised over $30,000 at their annual fundraiser to support adults with disabilities in Maine and New Hampshire.

“Like many human services organizations, Great Bay Services faces a gap in funding between what is paid by state and federal agencies and the actual costs of services,” said Elizabeth Worboys Burr, Great Bay Services director of Mission Advancement. “We are very fortunate to have the support of many area businesses and individuals who are committed to our mission.”

Over 100 people attended the dinner dance held at Spring Hill in South Berwick, Maine. The evening's entertainment included music by DJ Mike Pomp. Along with a full dinner and cash bar, there was a ticket auction and live auction including artwork by Great Bay Services clients. The décor featured centerpieces assembled by the clients of GBS, under the direction of a florist from The Flower Room.

Great Bay Services was originally founded in 1954 in New Hampshire by a group of parents who refused to send their children with disabilities to the state institutions. The gala marked GBS’ 65th anniversary.

“Today, GBS is still on the forefront of innovative and progressive care of adults with disabilities, and provides support to more than 80 clients, between our locations in Dover, New Hampshire, and Sanford, Maine,” added Burr.

Hollywood Nights sponsors included Bangor Savings Banks, DF Richard, Eastern Bank, CGI Business Solutions, Commercial Solutions, The Flower Room, Kennebunk Savings Bank, The Market Square Group at Morgan Stanley, S&J Transportation, and Optima Bank.
