MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — A flash flood warning for coastal sections of New Hampshire and parts of southern Maine was in effect Saturday after heavy rains soaked the region.

The flash flood warning will remain in effect until 1:30 p.m. Saturday while the flood watch will continue until 7 p.m.

Heavy rains are hitting New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont on Saturday. An inch of rain or more is forecast in some areas. Thick fog is also forecast.

In Vermont, the Weather Service is warning of localized flooding of low lying areas. Of particular concern is the Otter Creek near Rutland and the Mad River.

Heavy winds could also cause power outages.
