3 charged in connection with the shooting on busy Memphis road, SCSO says

FOX13 uncovered new information about the suspects arrested Monday after a gun battle lead to a car crash on East Shelby Driver near Lamar.

According to the affidavit, the suspects were speeding with a deputy in pursuit as they ran seven red lights and almost slammed into an 18-wheeler at Lamar before crashing into another vehicle.

Officers said the Dodge Chrysler driven by the suspects was reported stolen in Bartlett last Thursday.

SCSO charged three men in connection with the shooting incident and pursuit Monday afternoon.

Joshua Hughlett, 20, Bryon Walker, 18, and Jaylon Rhodes, 18, are charged with numerous felonies.

Hughlett was charged with evading arrest in auto, possession of a firearm, theft of property and manufacturing with intent to sell or distribute marijuana.

Byron Walker was charged with evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, aggravated robbery, burglary and theft of property.

Jaylon Rhodes was charged with evading arrest and theft of property.

TBI records showed Hughlett and Walker were facing felony charges: gun charges, auto theft, and even attempted murder. Those crimes happened in October.

ATF is also involved because deputies recovered at least one stolen weapon. Two other guns were recovered and law enforcement is working to find out if they were also stolen.

All three are due in court Wednesday.

A shooting involving 2 cars happened Monday afternoon on a busy Memphis road.

According to preliminary information provided by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, two cars were involved in some kind of incident at Shelby Drive and Bethay. The people in those vehicles were reportedly shooting at each other, according to SCSO.

After the incident, SCSO deputies attempted to stop one of the vehicles leaving the scene.

After a police pursuit, one vehicle stopped after hitting several other cars at Shelby Drive and Lamar Avenue, according to Captain Buckner with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.

No injuries have been reported as of yet, according to Captain Buckner.

According to Buckner, two people are in custody and two others are potentially on the run.
