LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Students and faculty of historically black colleges and universities in Arkansas met alongside state representatives to celebrate their mission and history and to discuss the future of the institutions in the state.

Current students and alumni spoke about the positive change these schools have had in their lives while preparing them to launch into new careers.

“We have this remarkable set of institutions with UAPB, our land grant institution in Pine Bluff, and our three HBCUs here in metro Little Rock,” says
St. Rep French Hill, (R)Arkansas 2nd District

“I was searching for opportunity, faith, hope, and also a brotherhood and sisterhood. And those were exactly the opportunities my heart got and then some more,” says Jermaine Chavis, Arkansas Baptist Student.

The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center hosted the summit.
