The Week 4 in high school football around the state is here and should be some good action.

Rain is in the forecast for much of the state, but hopefully it doesn’t hamper the football games too much.

Here’s a look at five games that should be interesting.

Fort Smith Northside at Bryant

Class of 2019 Northside quarterback Derrick Wise Jr. has the Grizzlies off to a 3-0 start. This will be a severe test for them though. Bryant is 2-1 on the season and among the best teams in the state. They lost a narrow decision to Fayetteville last week. Wise is 23 of 30 passing for 373 yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 271 yards and three touchdowns. One of his key blockers is 2019 offensive lineman Stevie Young. Linebacker Anthony Travis is a key defender for the Grizzlies and is also a 2019 recruit. Bryant Class of 2020 outside linebacker-defensive end Catrell Wallace is a high D-I prospect.

Conway at Fort Smith Southside

Conway quarterback JoVoni Johnson has seven offers from colleges including a Preferred Walk-On from the Hogs. He has a 4.2 GPA and a 34 on the ACT. UCA, Ouachita Baptist, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Delta State, Arkansas Tech and Dordt Christian have all offered him. He has completed 32 of 65 passes for 494 yards and four touchdowns. A dual-threat he has rushed for 124 yards. Southside has a talented quarterback of its own in Taye Gatewood as well linebacker Darin Davenport. Gatewood is 41 of 66 passing for 589 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 102 yards and four scores. I saw the Mavericks when they played at Bentonville West. Very impressive team. Running back Ricardo Savoy has rushed 40 times for 434 yards and four touchdowns.

Bentonville West at Fayetteville

Bentonville West has linebacker Kendall Young who committed to Vanderbilt on Thursday while most was expecting him to choose Missouri. Wide receiver Jadon Jackson has committed to Ole Miss though he is questionable tonight due to injury suffered against Fort Smith Southside. Fayetteville quarterback Darius Bowers is also hurt so expect junior Hank Gibbs, 6-6, 210, to be under center. No matter who is at quarterback for Fayetteville, they will have one of the best wide receivers in the state to throw it to in 2020 standout Connor Flannigan. When completely healthy this is two of the best teams in Arkansas.

Little Rock Fair at Pulaski Academy

OK, so this won’t be a close game. If anyone gets the chance to see tight end Hudson Henry play it’s a treat. The Bruins are 2-1 and coming off a rare loss this past week. Fair is 1-2. Henry has caught 24 passes for 325 yards and two touchdowns this season. He has Arkansas, Stanford, Wisconsin, Clemson and Penn State in his group of five finalists.

Fountain Lake at Joe T. Robinson

Robinson is 2-1 while Fountain Lake is 3-0 entering the game. Defensive end Zach Williams is committed to Arkansas and one of the leaders for the Senators. Williams has 23 tackles, including 13 unassisted, five tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble and a recovered fumble. Class of 2019 two-way lineman Elliott Harris Jr. and 2022 offensive tackle E’Marion Harris are also D-I recruits as are others on Robinson.
