All Eyes on State Tournament for Lakeview Legion Baseball Team

The Tropics are going back to state for the first time since 2017.

DULUTH, Minn. – The legion baseball season has come and gone and Lakeview survived their Sub-State 10 tournament. Now they have their eyes on the state tournament.

The Tropics are heading back to state for the first time in two years. But these players aren’t strangers to big games as most of them played on the Duluth East team that made it to the section finals this past spring.

“We want to win games and we want to be here to play baseball. I think that’s kind of special how we all work together as a team to just keep each other positive. I think that’s really going to help in the state tournament,” said catcher Isaac Fugere.

“It just gives the guys another chance to play with each other for longer through the summer. We do have a lot of guys who have graduated and won’t be with us in high school ball next year. We’ll certainly miss those guys. But it’s nice to have one more shot to go down and make some noise in Cold Spring and have these guys do something great together again,” team manager Steve Plesha said.

Lakeview will begin their state tourney run Thursday against Rosetown down in Watkins, MN.
