Protests continue in New Orleans on Thursday Night

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WVUE) - Protesters head to Duncan Plaza for the seventh day straight.

Yesterday’s protest ended in tear gas being deployed into the crowd as they attempted to cross the Crescent City Connection. Police vehicles and officers in riot gear blocked the bridge and the marchers were stopped on the elevated portion of the interstate near the Tchoupitoulas St. exit.

Today, protesters were equipped with goggles and eyewear.

Protesters marched on the North Broad overpass to the NOPD Headquarters.

Fox 8 reporter Amanda Roberts stated the protest leaders made an effort to make sure they stuck together:

There seems to be a concerted effort to march together tonight. This has happened a few times along the route for the group to reform and band together behind the banner. MArching up Louisiana now. pic.twitter.com/fszSdSKKGw

In a tweet, NOPD asks for the protesters to remain peaceful:

As people march today, the #NOPD would like to remind everyone to please remain peaceful. NOPD is saddened by the events that have led to this unrest & respects every person's right to protest social injustice. We ask we honor the memory of #georgefloyd in a peaceful manner.
