The Great American Lobster Fest is returning Sept.13-15 to Detroit’s Hart Plaza.

Over three days, the site will be filled with lobster and other seafood provided by event presenter Lobster Gram. Lobsters will be flown in fresh from the East Coast.

The event will also include shopping, crafts and a live entertainment lineup that includes Thornetta Davis, Paulina Jayne and Space Cat. Hours are 5-10 p.m. Sept. 13 and noon-10 p.m. on Sept. 14-15.

Lobsters will be flown in fresh from the East Coast for next month's Great American Lobster Fest.

Entry to the event is free and lobster meals start at $39. There's a catch, however: You'll need to nab a ticket early because only 4,000 lobster meals will be sold. Tickets are available only in advance.

The meal includes your choice of a whole lobster (about 1¼ pounds) or a lobster roll, corn on the cob, potatoes, a dinner roll, lemons and melted butter. Desserts will also be available for sale. A VIP ticket ($89) includes the meal plus four drink vouchers and access to the VIP Lounge, which will offer views of the Detroit River.

Other seafood items will be offered for sale at the event, along with snacks, sweets and vegetarian fare. People with advance Lobster Fest tickets will pick up their meals in an area separate from other food vendors.

For information and tickets go to www.americanlobsterfest.com. Lobster Gram presented a Lobster Fest last weekend in Milwaukee; another is scheduled for Chicago on Labor Day weekend.
