Thursday

Buddy Guy and Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band

The blues is alive and well, as Buddy Guy's latest album title declares. This co-headlining show teams the 82-year-old Chicago veteran with old soul Kenny Wayne Shepherd for a night of blues-guitar heroics. 7:30 p.m., Meadow Brook Amphitheatre, 3554 Walton Blvd., Rochester Hills. 248-377-0100. $20 and up.

Friday and Wednesday

Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band

Seger and company play nights four and five of their six-show DTE stand as his Roll Me Away Tour rocks on. June 21 will bring their final concert at the venue the old-school fans still love to call Pine Knob. 8 p.m. Friday, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, DTE Energy Music Theatre, I-75 at Exit 89, Clarkston. 248-377-0100.

Saturday

WYCD Hoedown

Brantley Gilbert brings "Bottoms Up" and other country hits to the main stage as the Hoedown notches its fourth year at DTE. The eight-hour festival also includes amphitheater sets from Joe Nichols and Caylee Hammack, along with Dylan Schneider, Logan Mize, Filmore, the Joey Vee Band, Austin Burke, Haley & Michaels and Mac Watts playing a pair of stages elsewhere on the venue grounds. 3 p.m., DTE Energy Music Theatre, I-75 at Exit 89, Clarkston. 248-377-0100. $29.50 and up.

Saturday-Sunday

Charlie Wilson

The ex-Gap Band singer is a longtime favorite with Detroit audiences — a strong enough draw to hold down two nights at the venue formerly known as Chene Park. The Whispers round out the classic R&B with an opening slot on Saturday. 8 p.m., Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre, 2600 E. Atwater, Detroit. 313-393-7128. $TBA.

Monday

Jason Isbell and Father John Misty

An intriguing co-headlining bill brings two singer-songwriters operating in the rootsy rock realm with different approaches: Misty, who performs first on this date, does his thing with a kind of wry distance; Isbell and his band 400 Unit are all heart-on-sleeve sincerity. English up-and-comer Jade Bird will open. 7:30 p.m., Fox Theatre, 2211 Woodward, Detroit. 313-471-6611. $49.75 and up.

Tuesday

Death Cab for Cutie

Ben Gibbard's glimmering, contemplative indie-pop makes its first Detroit appearance in four years, and first since the departure of longtime guitarist Chris Walla. Singer-songwriter Jenny Lewis, touring in support of her fourth solo album ("On the Line") is opening. 8 p.m., Masonic Temple, 500 Temple, Detroit. 313-832-7100. $35 and up.

New Kids on the Block

With their essential lineup still intact and sense of good times in hand, the grown-up New Kids celebrate three decades of frothy pop in this nostalgic Mixtape Tour 2019 bill with Salt-N-Pepa, Tiffany, Naughty By Nature and Debbie Gibson. 7:30 p.m., Little Caesars Arena, 2645 Woodward, Detroit. 313-471-6611. $29.95 and up.
