Metro Detroit weather forecast: Damaging winds, chance of tornadoes

Detroit Free Press staff
Flooding on M-10 Lodge Freeway in Detroit slows down traffic between Linwood and Livernois Avenue on the south and northbound lanes on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018.

Expect a stormy evening in metro Detroit, including a slight risk of isolated tornadoes.

That's what the National Weather Service in White Lake is predicting for southeast Michigan Tuesday.

According to the weather service, the time frame for the storms runs from roughly 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. and it could include damaging wind gusts to 60 m.p.h. with the odds of a tornado closer to Michigan's southern border.

After the rain moves out early Wednesday, the forecast calls for a beautiful stretch of fall weather, with highs in the mid- to upper 60s and lows in the low 50s.

The next chance of rain is late Saturday.
