8-year-old Michigan boy run over by his mother at school drop off

BELMONT, Mich. — An 8-year-old boy is in the hospital after being run over by his mother during school drop-off Tuesday morning.

According to Kent County Dispatch, the incident happened at Chandler Woods Charter Academy around 8:30 a.m.

The school's video surveillance system shows the 8-year-old hanging from the passenger side from door handle before losing his grip. He was run over by the passenger side rear tire of the vehicle.

The boy suffered serious injuries and was taken to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital for treatment. As of Tuesday afternoon, he was listed in critical condition.
