Protests are planned in several Michigan cities on Monday — Presidents Day — as part of a nationwide demonstrations against President Donald Trump's declaration of a national emergency.

Protests will be held in Ferndale, Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Howell, Lansing and Wyoming, according to Moveon.org. All the protests will be held at noon, except for the one in Howell, which starts at 5 p.m.

The Michigan protests are among some 262 planned nationwide — from New York and North Dakota to California and Texas — listed on the Moveon.org website.

Trump declared a national emergency on Friday to secure funding for a wall he hopes to build along the county's southern border with Mexico. Trump's order freed up $8 billion to collect funds for 234 miles of wall along the U.S.-Mexican border.

The national emergency has divided Congress and has prompted watchdog groups the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington and Public Citizen to file lawsuits against Trump.

Rallies are being organized on website moveon.org, a social justice and political action organization. Protests are also being orchestrated on rallylist.com.
