A Detroit police officer and her brother have been charged in connection with a nonfatal shooting at a wedding reception.

Officer Diamond Greenwood, 26, was off duty and intoxicated when she pulled out her department-issued weapon Oct. 27 inside a building on the 6300 block of Stearns Street in Detroit, according to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy's office. Several people at the party had been fighting, authorities said.

"It is alleged that an argument occurred between several people that escalated into physical altercations among multiple attendees of the reception," the prosecutor's office said in a news release. "It is also alleged that Defendant Greenwood pulled her department-issued weapon and pointed her weapon at a 29-year-old Detroit man and several people before exiting the location."

Prosecutor's said at some point, Greenwood's brother, Terry Dawayne Catchings, 24, fired the weapon in the building.

Police officers who arrived at the scene found Greenwood in a vehicle in the parking lot. They arrested her and took her to the Detroit Detention Center.

Greenwood and Catchings were arraigned Friday in 36th District Court in Detroit.

Greenwood was charged with two counts of felonious assault, aggravated assault, obstruction of justice, brandishing a weapon in public, willful neglect of duty, possessing a firearm while under the influence, operating while intoxicated and three felony firearms offenses.

Catchings has been charged with discharging a firearm in or at a building, being a felon in possession of a firearm and two felony firearms offenses.

Greenwood received a $5,000 bond with the option to post 10 percent, while Catchings received a $15,000 bond with the option to post 10 percent. Probable cause conferences have been scheduled for March 7, and preliminary exams for March 14.
