Michigan State Police shut down the bridge to Belle Isle after the report of a possible shooting Tuesday afternoon in Detroit.

MSP received a call at about 3:40 p.m. from Detroit police 911 about a possible shooting on the MacArthur Bridge, according to MSP on Twitter.

However, after an investigation, troopers determined the incident occurred on Jefferson Avenue, not on Belle Isle or the MacArthur Bridge, according to a later tweet by MSP.

The case is now being handled by Detroit police.

Earlier, MSP said a possible victim went to the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit.

Troopers headed to the hospital to locate the possible victim, while other troopers shut down the bridge to locate a possible crime scene.
