The October Detroit Fall Beer Festival hosted by the Michigan Brewers Guild has been canceled due to coronavirus concerns.

Another large event in the city of Detroit has been canceled amid coronavirus concerns — the Michigan Brewers Guild's Detroit Fall Beer Festival.

The festival was set to take place in Eastern Market on Oct. 24, which up to 5,000 people normally attend.

“The health and safety of our guests, brewery staff, volunteers and the general public remain our primary focus,” says Scott Graham, executive director of Guild. “We are disappointed that we won’t be able to gather with our fellow Michigan beer lovers, but given the continued uncertainty and safety protocols that remain in place, we believe this is the appropriate decision at this time.”

This isn't the only festival that the Michigan Brewers Guild has had to cancel. This is the fourth of five, which were supposed to take place in Traverse City, Ypsilanti and Marquette.

Since the festival has been canceled, all Enthusiast Memberships have been extended by six months, starting with the ones that expired March 1.

As a way to still support local businesses, the Michigan Brewers Guild recommends purchasing a pint of beer, grabbing a growler or a six-pack of choice.
